Story Shack’s founder and principal storyteller-scholar is Katherine E. Hoffman, PhD, an anthropologist by training and storyteller by passion. In over two decades of fieldwork and university teaching, Katherine has collected stories that bring new understandings to diverse audiences, through public lectures, high-end tour guiding, authored books and articles, documentary film research, adult education and beyond. Katherine created The Story Shack to lend her cross-cultural ethnographic skills to individuals and groups in need of a new story. Because who doesn’t love a fresh story?

1:1 Coaching & 1:2 Mediation
The ideal choice if you want a personalized plan that is tailored to your goals. In-person and remote coaching and mediation available. Coaching is for one client alone; mediation is for two individuals seeking dispute resolution services so that they can arrive at consensus.

Your go-to service when you (or your team) already know the pieces you need in your story but need help crafting them into life. You supply the bones (or even just the bone shards) of what you want to tell, the format(s)/media you’re aiming for, your target audience(s), and your target completion date. Starting a business and not sure how to present your goods or services and why they matter? No sweat. Switching careers and unsure how to present your experience and skills? We can help there, too. (Some call this your “brand,” but we know that your story anchors deeper than that concept suggests.)

Dive into crafting your story with an on-site day-long workshop tailored to your group’s needs (chartered workshop) or your personal goals (in community with friends you haven’t met yet). Workshops include meals, materials, writing in community, individual writing, and downtime for idea incubation, walks, and restoration. Overnight accommodations can be arranged for additional cost.
